FINTRAC’s financial intelligence was recognized by the Waterloo Regional Police in relation to a fraud investigation where over $100,000.00 in forged cheques were deposited into accounts. As a result of the investigation, one individual was charged with several criminal offences, including fraud over $5,000, possession of credit card (two counts), possession of property obtained by crime, and laundering proceeds of crime.
